Yoga Sessions

What is yoga?

Yoga is a traditional philosophy from India and means "unity" - with yourself and the entire universe. It contains the eight limbs towards self discovery according to Patanjali.

Asana, the physical practice that got so popular in the western world, is actually only one of those limbs of yoga.

Originally only a small number of demanding physical postures was practised with the sole purpose of preparing the body to sit in lotus position for a long time for meditation. With time those postures were adjusted to be more accessible to the growing demand of people. That is how today's asanas from Hatha yoga emerged.

Yoga asanas are growing in demand today also in the Western hemisphere especially due to the physical aspect of the practie. Moreover, they provide the opportunity to merge our physical, mental and energetic  world.

Styles of Asana Practice

What is the right style for me?

There is no right or wrong - it just needs to feel good and resonate with your body and mood.

Each asana style has its own benefits and appeal.

The best way to go, is to try and feel into it.

Hatha Yoga: The origin of all asana. Postures are being held for 3-5 breath cycles and the focus is on the correct alignment of the body.

Vinyasa Yoga: Energizing and fluid. Generally: one breath - one asana, this creates a beautiful flowy dance.

Yin Yoga: Meditative and relaxing. Asanas are supported by cussions and blocks. The increased holding time of 3-8 minutes shifts the focus towards a deep stretch of the fascia and relaxation of the muscles.

Yoga Session

What is the sequence of the session?

The individual yoga sessions are created to meet your personal needs.

In general, both Vinyasa and Hatha Yoga begin with a moment of arrival and tuning into the space through a short meditation. We continue by warming up our joints and muscles with gentle stretches and movement.

After a asana sequence to increase our heartbeat we arrive at the main part - depending on your focus this could be a peak pose you are working on, a thematic flow or a focus on specific regions in your body.

We conclude with a cool-down and a meditation with the option of breathwork to integrate the whole practice.

Yin yoga sessions begin as well with an arrival phase to tune into the space. We then dive straight into the long holds of the asana. The intention is to relax body and mind in an uncomfortable (but not hurtful) position.

All sessions can be tailored to your specific needs.
