Reiki Healing

A gentle method to activate self-healing powers. Universal energy is channeled to regenerate body and mind through laying on hands.

Reiki healing method

What does Reiki mean?

Reiki is a Japanese healing art that uses the inexhaustible energy of the universe to strengthen body, soul and spirit.

Rei stands for "universal"  and "higher power", Ki (Chi in Chinese) means "life energy".

Reiki is based on the principle that the universal energy drives all life and its force can be found everywhere - in all beings and all around us. If our energies are not in balance, physical, emotional or mental disturbances can manifest.

During a Reiki treatment, universal life force is directed into the body by gently laying on hands in order to release any of those  blockages, to calm the nervous system and thus support your own self-healing power.

Procedure of a Reiki session

What can I expect from the treatment?

Each Reiki session begins with a short conversation and the setting of an intention for the healing. The intention includes either specific physical, mental or emotional complaints, or can be formulated more generic. We continue with cleansing the energetic forces and a short meditation to settle in space.

To relaxing music, energy is then transferred into the body by laying on of hands. Gentle warmth can be perceived; possibly  memories and strong emotions may arise. If perceived beneficial, I may place crystals on your body or use essential oils.

At the end of the session, discharged energies are cleansed to prevent reabsorbing any released emotions and baggage. Finally, we take time to exchange about anything that might have surfaced - any feelings and sensations. If further treatment is desired, we set an intention for the time until the next session.

Preparation

My first session is coming up - what do I have to consider beforehand?

Reiki is the universal life force that is always in motion within and around us. During a session, this energy is channeled into your bodies and supports your own healing powers.

The good news - with Reiki, these self-healing powers are stimulated without your active intervention.

A Reiki session requires no prerequisites or preparation. An open mind and curiosity about self-examination are beneficial. It is helpful to practice yoga, meditation, or other types of mindfulness just to become more aware of subtle changes in the body and vibrations. However, this is not a necessity!

Even if you don't actively perceive the vibrations - your mind might not want to quiet or you fall asleep - your subconscious and your energy field benefit equally from the Reiki treatment.

After the Treatment

Time for Reflection

Reiki brings energies into vibration and activates the self-healing processes within us. Occasionally, these can be perceived very intensely through tiredness and emotional vulnerability. Alternatively, the burst of energy can do the opposite and create an urge for increased activity. There is no right or wrong, the important thing is to feel on your own body and mind.

Generally, I advise using the hours after the Reiki to take care of yourself. It's a good idea to end the day on a gentle note and, maybe over a cup of tea, journal on all the emotions, thoughts and sensations that arose during the treatment.

In the first few nights after a session, your dreams can be quite exciting as well. Dreams bring deep insights into our subconscious. Can you feel a change?

For your first treatment, as well as for a thorough cleanse, I recommend 60 minutes. Sessions of 30 minuten serve a quick energy boost, a focused cleanse and are generally recommended for long-term treatment.
